Eligibility Requirements 

Scholars must be African American and residing in North Minneapolis with a minimum GPA of 2.5
 
For Consideration please provide:

1. College acceptance letter/ class schedule  

2. Essay

3. Headshot: 

Essay criteria: 2-3 page essay not to exceed 1000 words. 

Topic: Wilson’s Image College Scholarship was founded in May 2018 for African American scholars living in the 4th and 5th Ward of North Minneapolis. Minnesota, mainly Minneapolis is where the widest achievement gap in the country between black/brown scholars vs white scholars exists. To receive the scholarship, scholars need to write an essay detailing how they would use their degree to positively impact the social/economic ills of North Minneapolis.   

 Selected Scholars will move to round two 

Scholars selected to move to round two will be invited to a sit down 30-minute interview with Community Stakeholders which will include:

  • Past scholarship recipients 

  • Funders

  • Community Elders 

  • Community Educators 

  • Parents

Applications open spring of each year and Awardees will be notified by the third week of deadline.

 All eligibility and application requirements are due no later than midnight of deadline.
